I'm Deborah Riddick, founder and principal consultant at Alternate Frame. At Alternate Frame we connect the people, organizations, and policies that support community health equity.
The name, Alternate Frame, actually came from a blog post I wrote reflecting on Juneteenth 2021. Essentially, I shared how personal truth and understanding are based on experience and context. Once I made the decision to go into private practice, it became clear that the phrase was a perfect fit for this new endeavor. It's been a lifetime in the making and is the embodiment of my personal philosophy. It's the way I've learned to navigate the world.
I started Alternate Frame after years of addressing health disparities through clinical practice, public policy and stakeholder engagement. I began my career as a medical assistant, which gave me my first exposure to health disparities and cemented my relationship with grassroots advocacy. Since that time, I've been a registered nurse, an educator, a policy strategist, an activist, and a public speaker. All the people I've cared for and collaborated with...all the places I've lived and visited...all the challenges and successes I've experienced have given me a broader and more nuanced perspective. They've shaped my approach to problem-solving and have given me purpose. And it's been that constant reframing, both personally and professionally, that has rewarded me with an Alternate Frame.

We take the time to understand your story and the motivations behind your goals. The "why' is far more valuable to the strategy than the "how." Understanding the "why' behind conflicting views offers an opportunity for a new approach.
Everyone holds a unique vantage point that informs judgements and influences decisions. We create collaborative spaces that embrace that tension in order to address blind spots impacting your outcomes.
Honesty, accountability, consistency, transparency. It's how we've created positive change in communities all over the country for decades. And it's our commitment to you.
Thank you for contacting us.
We will share our Topics & Trends with you later this fall.
